West Bengal is our state and Bengali is our language. With an estimated population of 80 10 million, our literacy rate is 68%. Bengal is a land of natural resources. It has a forest area of 11879 square kilometers. Abundance in manpower. has helped in industrialization even though the state banks mostly upon agriculture Jute, tea etc., are the exportable commodities produced within the state. We are self-sufficient in rice which with fish is our staple food.
A state like West Bengal! cannot be represented just by means of dry data. Bengal has been a proud seat of cultural renaissance. Bengal has cradled our glorious freedom movement and has given birth to the great men than any other Indian state has. Bengal also has its own inimitable style for the festivities. We also take pride in our communal harmony and all embracing attitude. All these and more make Bengal better than the best-the queen of the states and the apple of our eyes.
