Paragraph : The Season of Bengal

The Bengali year is divided into six seasons of two months each. They are summer, the rainy season, autumn, the late autumn (hemanta), winter and spring. Summer begins from about the third week of April and continues up to mid June. It is the most unwelcome season. The sun shines very hotly ans we suffer from the unbearable heat. Violent storms occasionally break out ans cause great damage to man. In this season palatable fruits like managoes, lichis, etc. are available.

The rainy season extends from mid June to mid August. There is frequent rain in this season. Sometimes it rains heavily for days together. The flood results and washes away houses and crops. It is the season when farmers plough their lands and sow seeds.

Autumn comes next. The sky gets clear of clouds. Different flowers blossom and their sweet scent is wafted all around. Dew falls. Moon - light bathes the earth at night. Durga Puja, the greatest Hindoo religious festivel, comes off in this season. The late autumn follows the autumn closely. It extends from mid October to mid December. It announces the dawn of winter.

Winter comes next and lasts until mid February.  In this season trees shed their leaves and all nature looks dull and old.  Poor people suffer from cold.  Winter has, however, its charms.  Paddy is harvested.  Such delicious vegetables as beans, tomatoes, cauliflowers, cabbages, etc.  are available in plenty.  Sprint follows winter.  It is the season of beauty and pleasure, flowers blossom and birds sing.  Nature looks fresh.
